Carthusia I Profumi de Capri

According to an ancient legend on Capri, in 1380 the prior at the Certosa di San Giacomo, in honor of a visit by Queen Joan d'Anjou, gathered the most beautiful and fragrant wild flowers on the island.
The water in which they were kept fresh took on such a delicate, exquisite perfume that the prior, with the help of an alchemist, decided to reproduce it: thus the first Capri perfume was born.
The ancient recipes from the Certosa were rediscovered in 1948. With permission from the Pope, the prior of San Giacomo revealed the secret to a chemist in Piedmont and Carthusia was born, the smallest and most exclusive perfume laboratory in the world with a limited production of hand-made perfumes, extremely refined and known only to those who were lucky enough to stay on the island.
Today, Carthusia perfumes are prepared with the same care and passion as in the past: in small quantities and using absolutely first class natural ingredients.
Rosemary from Mount Solaro or Garofilum silvestre give these Capri perfumes unique, peerless notes and harmonies. The essences are processed, filtered and hand-bottled one by one.
